Problems We Solve
At Control Concepts we go to great lengths to accommodate our clients.
Here are solutions to common problems brought to us by each market.
We offer an array of control system programming services as well as management & maintenance once your AV systems are installed.
It’s not enough to simply provide a user with basic functionality using typical features and still call that a custom integrated system.
By working with us, you gain more customizable development, more timely response, more control over your end product.
For manufacturers, we look to provide module development and middleware development
With specialty services from Control Concepts like systems engineering, audio DSP programming, and field commissioning, we empower you to deliver more.
Technology managers, consultants, and integrators should consider the value of hiring a third party to commission their systems to identify open items and ensure performance standards are met.
As part of our specialty engineering services, Control Concepts offers AV strategic planning to its technology partners.
Understanding Secure Device Communication in AV Control
Cybersecurity is a hot topic of conversation in the world at large and the AV industry is no exception. As AV has become a specialized area of IT, it is critical that security best practices are implemented in integrated systems and devices.
For many years, the AV industry has relied on RS-232 communications to integrate complex devices that supported a robust API (Application Program Interface aka control protocol). While this method was effective and required adherence to basic security measures, its exposure was limited by the requirement of a point-to-point connection within 50 ft with a custom communication cable.
With AV device communication migrating to the ethernet network comes the flexibility and standardization of connections along with convenience and vulnerability of being accessible. Devices on an ethernet network tend to be reachable for communication by many other devices on the network and thus provide an easy target for security breaches. As a result, many AV manufacturers who are developing products intending to communicate on a local or wide area ethernet network, including The Cloud, are implementing intense security measures to ensure their devices are IT approved and don’t become a weak link in the integrated system security chain.
Crestron Home and .AV Framework Driver Development from Control Concepts
Control Concepts is proud to announce the availability of Crestron Home and .AV Framework Driver development for manufacturers of third-party controllable devices, systems, or applications. Crestron Home and .AV Framework Driver are a critical components in providing compatibility for third party devices with Crestron Home and .AV Framework as well as supporting ease of integration, confi guration, and programming of Crestron’s latest 4-Series processors and virtual control platform VC4.
Control Concepts Now Offering Utility Modules Online
In a continuing effort to expand the capabilities of traditional AV systems and support the greater community of control system programmers, Control Concepts announces the creation of a Utility Module Store. This store will facilitate the availability and distribution of Control Concepts utility modules.
“Over the years, our software developers have created innovative tools to serve our clients, address the unique needs of projects, and offer advanced system capabilities,” remarked Steve Greenblatt, Control Concepts’ President and Founder. “When we encountered periods of downtime during the pandemic, we invested in creating an online store to showcase some of our work and offer some modules we developed for internal use to other programmers.”
Tips for Returning Employees to Work
A return to in-person work in one form or another is imminent. Whether organizations bring back their entire staff, schedule a staggered presence, or plan to congregate on demand, the pandemic work life that everyone has grown accustomed to will be changing for the majority of businesses and staff. Even if these changes don’t have an impact on roles and responsibilities, they will likely have an effect on company dynamics, team engagement, work hours, and scheduling flexibility. For some, it may be as easy as a welcomed return to a comfortable routine. For others it can be uprooting a new way of life that they have grown accustomed to living and truly value.
